The Red Sea Development

The island is located on a remote island along the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia. As such, logistics were at the forefront form the start of the project. The island can only be accessed by boat, or sea plane. All construction materials had to be transported to site by one of these methods, this created a major challenge.

The island benefits from deep sea lagoon. This blue hole is 1 km in length and has great conditions for swimming. It is considered one of the best island locations in Saudi Arabia. The design team decided the lagoon would be the perfect location for boat access as the main jetty could be located approximately 500m off the shore in a location where the coral reef dissipates, allowing the possibility of pile construction, minimizing the impact on coral life.
